Proctology / Hemorrhoids
Do you suffer from hemorrhoids at the anus, or pain or loss of blood during defecation, you can come and visit our clinic for ‘anal problems’. You will see an experienced surgeon, who, if required, inspects your anus in the treatmentroom during that visit and starts the appropiate therapy.
Where do hemorrhoids come from?
The sagging and protruding of the corpus cavernosum is called hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids (also called piles) are swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, similar to varicose veins. Hemorrhoids can develop inside the rectum (internal hemorrhoids) or under the skin around the anus (external hemorrhoids). Hemorrhoids can cause an uncomfortable and painful feeling and blood may be stowed in the corpus cavernosum which will cause the hemorrhoids to bleed easily. When blood clot forms in the veins of the skin around the anus we call it a thrombosed hemorrhoid. Other problems can include itching, loss of fluid and eczema around the anus.
The forming of hemorrhoids is mainly caused by a lack of dietary fibres in our food. Sitting a lot, lack of physical exercise and obesity can contribute to the problems. Hemorroids are also common during pregnancy. The problems that hemorrhoids cause can also be seen with other deviaions at the rectum and the anus. Pain in the anus can be caused by a small rip in the anal lining. This will be treated with an ointment or a botox treatment of the anus.
Sterilisation (male)
If you have no child wish (anymore), sterilisation is a lasting and very reliable way to prevent pregnancy. Sterilisation of the male is usually called ‘vasectomy’, and requires minor surgery. The vas deferens will be cut, shortened and tied off, making it impossible for the semen to get out. So only fluids come out when ejaculating, no semen.
Not in the standard package (insurance)
A vasectomy (sterilisation) is usually not part of the standard package of health insurance companies, so you will have to pay for the procedure yourself. That is the same if you were to have this done in a hospital. If you pay in person, you do not need a referral from the GP.
